Trailside Museum : Welcome Center

Please be aware that all Glen Helen facilities are currently closed to the public!  We hope to re-open Trailside Museum soon.

The Trailside Museum is the weekend welcome center for Glen Helen Nature Preserve. Visitors to the Glen are encouraged to stop by before exploring the trails. The Museum features hands-on displays and exhibits that are designed for visitors to get an up close experience with nature.

Trail maps and gear are available at Trailside, while the Glen Helen Nature Shop offers an array of nature books, birding items, and other items of interest for outdoor enthusiasts.

As the starting place for many public family and adult programs, the Trailside Museum offers scheduled, educational programs for all ages - day/night hikes, craft programs, therapeutic opportunities, and more. Visit our Program Calendar for guided hike and program information. Want a program at your school or group location? Please visit the Extension Programs page to learn about our traveling programs or to schedule a program within The Glen.

*Hours of operation vary seasonally. Additional hours with volunteer support.

Guided Hikes

Led by a diverse cast of educators, naturalists, and outdoor enthusiasts, guided hikes and walks explore the picturesque trails as they wind through the Glen's expansive property. Participants learn about the natural environment as hike guides point out the area's unique flora and fauna, natural landmarks, and geologic sites.

Guided hikes take place throughout the year. Many hikes are offered free for Glen Helen Members, $5 for non-member participants. All hikes are moderate intensity and require pre-registration, no less than two days before the hike. Please visit our calendar for details.
