Since 1974, Ecocamp has provided countless opportunities for campers to experience the beauty of Glen Helen Nature Preserve up close, while creating a safe space for them to build community, connect with friends - old and new - and gain new skills as they build self-confidence.

After careful consideration, we are happy to announce that we are offering the following Day Camp programs for Summer 2021. We apologize that this is not the full range of programs typically available at Ecocamp, and we hope to expand this slate of offerings as our community health situation improves, state public health mandates are lifted and our staff capacity is expanded. We would prefer to add programs than have to cancel them.  Future program additions and updates will be communicated directly to our Ecocamp families through CampBrain as well as on this webpage and Facebook page.

Summer 2021 Camp Schedule & Descriptions

Critter Camp

This week campers will immerse themselves in the woods and learn to use their superpower senses to experience the world as wildlife does.  Campers will help care for our animal ambassadors and participate in animal themed games and crafts. We’ll hunt for toads, build like beavers, camouflage like tree frogs, and dance like salamanders!

Do you like to create, build, and experiment? Spend the week searching for inspiration from nature’s engineers, ants, bees, birds, and plants, all while experimenting with designs of your own! Test out different materials to create things that blend in, provide shelter, float, or soar at the Glen.

Nature + Art=Nart!  The beauty of Glen Helen will provide inspiration; campers must bring their imaginations! Our artists will sculpt mud, weave leaves, paint, draw and make messes as they create nature inspired art projects to leave behind and share back home.

Explore the Glen’s pond and streams in search of the amazing creatures that call them home. Campers will participate in all sorts of water themed crafts and games. Come ready for a wet week, no puddle will go un-splashed!

Storytellers’ Adventure

Are you up for a little fairy tale fun? Using beloved stories as inspiration, Campers will explore some of the Glen’s most magical spots. We will meet creatures real and mythical, build gnome homes and fairy forts, and maybe even find buried treasure. Then we’ll get creative and write our own story about a week at Glen Helen!

Survivor Challenge

How many ways do you know to start a fire? Can you build a shelter to weather out a storm?  Take your survival skills to the next level and test your strength and creativity as you take on a variety of challenges as a team. Do you have what it takes? Be ready for adventure!

Water Wander

Water flows through and around every one of us - we cannot live without it! Spend a week immersed in this delightful, precious resource. We will look for it in hidden places, conduct a stream study to learn more about the creatures that call our streams and ponds home, learn about how water shapes the landscapes around us and make some water-based art.

Safety Precautions & COVID-19 Response

As we continue to monitor Coronavirus (COVID-19) developments closely, the health and well-being of our campers, staff, and guests remains our primary planning consideration. Ecocamp will look different this year.  The purpose of this set-up is to allow us to operate a safe and meaningful camp experience within State Mandates. As we get closer to summer, and our community health situation hopefully improves, we will evaluate our program and make adjustments to maximize our offerings as we maintain safe operations. With this in mind, we are beginning Ecocamp 2021 registration with the following fluid plans in place:

We will continue to monitor and make decisions on future programs, sending updates directly to registered families and posting information on this page and on our Facebook.

Plans are being made based on the following sources:
