Geminid Meteor Shower Camp Out

Grab your telescope or binoculars and experience up to 80 meteors per hour from the area’s best viewing location! Enjoy a fun and educational experience including guided night hikes, winter hiking and camping tips and demonstrations, as well as constellation lore and identification with Davin Flateau, of the Antioch Astronomers.

 

Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

 

Support and limited viewing equipment offered by the Antioch Astronomers and Glen Helen.

The evening includes:

  • Constellation lore  and the origins of the Geminid Meteor Shower, presented by Antioch Astronomers

  • Determining true North vs. Magnetic North

  • Winter water acquisition and fire starting techniques

  • Winter hike/camping tips

  • Cold weather emergency tips

  • Stargazing

 

9 am, Camp Clean-Up

 

Participants are responsible for their own camping gear, seating, and snacks/drinks. Leave No Trace principals must be followed.
